About the role
The Specialty Care Outpatient Staff Registered Nurse (RN) oversees licensed vocational nurses/nursing assistants to provide competent, evidence-based specialty care to patients.
Responsibilities
- Provides patient care, care coordination, health promotion, health education, and coaching on wellness, disease prevention, and chronic care management.
- Aids in directing the provision of nursing education, orientation, competencies, and quality improvement.
- Demonstrates specialty care knowledge, skills, abilities, and judgment, and sets goals for managing complex outpatient situations.
- Validates understanding of specialty care processes and questions clinical practices for evidence-based care.
- Demonstrates competence in specialty care practices and decision-making, deliberate planning, and critical thinking skills.
Requirements
- Basic English language proficiency.
- Graduate of an approved nursing program.
- Current full, active, and unrestricted registration as a professional nurse.
- Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing, or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Master's degree in nursing (MSN), or Master's degree in a related field with a BSN.
- Doctoral degree in nursing, or Doctoral degree in a related field with a BSN.
Qualifications
- Basic education requirements met.
- May be appointed as a Graduate Nurse Technician (GNT) on a 120-day temporary appointment while actively pursuing licensure.
Skills
- Proficiency in practice based on conscious and deliberate planning.
- Self-directed in goal setting for managing complex client situations.
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary team to influence outcomes.
