Registered Nurse Ambulatory Care Outpatient Specialty

About the role

The Specialty Care Outpatient Staff Registered Nurse (RN) oversees licensed vocational nurses/nursing assistants to provide competent, evidence-based specialty care to patients.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care, care coordination, health promotion, health education, and coaching on wellness, disease prevention, and chronic care management.
• Aids in directing the provision of nursing education, orientation, competencies, and quality improvement.
• Demonstrates specialty care knowledge, skills, abilities, and judgment, and sets goals for managing complex outpatient situations.
• Validates understanding of specialty care processes and questions clinical practices for evidence-based care.
• Demonstrates competence in specialty care practices and decision-making, deliberate planning, and critical thinking skills.

Requirements

• Basic English language proficiency.
• Graduate of an approved nursing program.
• Current full, active, and unrestricted registration as a professional nurse.
• Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing, or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• Master's degree in nursing (MSN), or Master's degree in a related field with a BSN.
• Doctoral degree in nursing, or Doctoral degree in a related field with a BSN.

Qualifications

• Basic education requirements met.
• May be appointed as a Graduate Nurse Technician (GNT) on a 120-day temporary appointment while actively pursuing licensure.

• Self-directed in goal setting for managing complex client situations.
• Collaborates with interdisciplinary team to influence outcomes.
