REGISTERED NURSE (Ambulatory Care, Outpatient Psychiatry, Rachel Upjohn Building)

Job Summary

The Ambulatory Psychiatry Service at the Rachel Upjohn Building offers outpatient evaluations, treatment and procedures to adults with a variety of psychiatric/behavioral disorders.

Location: Outpatient Psychiatry at Rachel Upjohn Building

Responsibilities

• Provide expert nursing care to Ambulatory Care Psychiatry patients in the child, adolescent, adult, and addictions outpatient clinics.
• Ability to float within the department as needed.
• Provide telephone triage, patient/family education, direct patient care including injections, documentation with follow-up, and coordination with ancillary services and related departments.
• Provide functional supervision to allied health staff.
• Assist with patient flow as necessary and appropriate.
• Work with licensed providers to develop and carry out clinical standards of care for various patient diagnoses.
• Participate as a professional member of an interdisciplinary treatment team, organized around the assessment of cognitive, psychosocial, spiritual, and biological needs.
• Plan and coordinate care of individuals and their families with psychiatric illnesses including physical and addiction diagnoses, which may consist of more intensive levels of care and services including medical detoxification, intensive outpatient programs, and concurrent psychiatric care in an outpatient setting.
• Teach patients and families about addiction and other psychiatric disorders and the application of the therapeutic plan through methods and techniques for self-care.
• Assist in orientation of residents, nurses, students, interns, and other staff as appropriate, including observation and participation of patient care activities.
• Actively participate and support performance improvement activities related to self, clinic, department, and institutional goals and objectives.
• Other responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Current license to practice nursing in the State of Michigan (RN).
• Two (2) or more years within the last 5 years of RN experience in child, adolescent, or adult psychiatry and/or addictions nursing.
• Proficiency with MiChart inbasket management and documentation of patient encounters in electronic health records, e.g., Epic as indicated by interviews, references, and/or performance evaluations in past 2 out of 5 years of RN experience.
• Experience providing patient/family education in past 2 out of 5 years of RN experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills as evidenced by interviews, evaluations, and references in past 2 out of 5 years of RN experience.
• Must be willing to obtain Certified Addictions Registered Nurse (CARN) certification within 2 years of hire.

Desired Qualifications

• BSN.
• Two out of the last five years of RN experience in an ATS outpatient clinic.
• Demonstrated ability to manage patients along the psychiatry continuum of care including outpatient psychiatry, inpatient psychiatry, and primary care as evidenced by evaluations and references in the past 2 out of 5 years of RN experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based treatment of behavioral and psychiatric disorders across the age continuum as evidenced by evaluations and references in the past 2 out of 5 years of RN experience.
• Experience in telehealth nursing.

Pay

• Hourly range for Registered Nurses $41.78-$64.81/hour
• Evening Shift Differential - $3.00/hour
• Night Shift Differential - $4.00/hour
• Day Shift Weekend Differential - $2.90/hour
• Evening Shift Weekend Differential - $5.90/hour
• Night Shift Weekend Differential - $6.90/hour
• Charge Nurse Differential - $1.00/hour

Schedule

40 hours/week, 8-hour shifts, Monday through Friday, with possibility for some evenings or Saturdays based on clinic needs. Flexibility is required.

Location: Rachel Upjohn Building Psychiatry. Note: All new employees will be expected to float to a designated unit(s) in times of low census.

Nursing Framework Level

This UMPNC RN posting is posted as Nursing Framework LEVEL C. Actual Nursing Framework LEVEL and salary will be determined at time of hire. Nursing Framework levels range from Level A to Level F.
