REGISTERED NURSE (Ambulatory Care Nurse Resource Pool - Medical Specialties)

About the Role

Provide nursing care in a variety of Ambulatory Care settings with primary responsibilities in the Internal Medicine Specialty Clinics. This position could involve travel to various locations across all Michigan Medicine facilities.

Responsibilities

• Assessment of patient needs and assistance with medical issues related to health concerns.
• Manage prescription refill requests and secure patient messages.
• Adapt communication style to patients representing diverse personal, professional, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds.
• Use excellent listening skills to receive detailed information.
• Utilize electronic protocol database to assess, educate, and document all health information accurately and expediently.
• Respond to the needs of a clinic and meet minimum established quality and productivity standards.
• Knowledge and appropriate use of internal and external resources.
• Collaborate with providers when necessary in providing advice or determining disposition for patients.
• Provide functional supervision to assistive personnel; collaborate with colleagues, other disciplines, and health care/community services to promote continuity of care.
• Assist with patient flow as necessary and appropriate.
• Work with licensed providers to develop and carry out clinical standards of care for various patient diagnoses.
• Assist in orientation of team members as appropriate, including observation and participation in patient care activities.
• Actively participate and support performance improvement activities related to self, clinic, department, and institutional goals and objectives.
• Telephone management, patient and family education, assistance with procedures, and other responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

• Current license to practice nursing in the State of Michigan (RN).
• Two (2) years, within the last three (3) years, of RN experience caring for patients in the adult inpatient medical/surgical units, ICU, or Ambulatory Care.
• Two (2) years within the last five years as a registered nurse, caring for adults with acute or chronic conditions in an ambulatory care, GI procedural setting, or inpatient unit where GI procedures take place (e.g., colonoscopy, endoscopy).
• Minimum five (5) years of nursing experience working with adult medicine patients.
• Proficiency with MiChart management and documentation in electronic health record, e.g., Epic as indicated by interviews, references, and/or performance evaluation.
• Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills as evidenced by resume, annual evaluations, and references.

Qualifications

• Ambulatory Care Experience with telephone triage/symptom management within the last two (2) years.
• Experience as a float RN.
• BSN.
• Experience performing patient education for individuals and/or groups.

Pay

• Hourly range for Registered Nurses: $43.53-$67.40/hour.
• Evening Shift Differential: $3.00/hour.
• Night Shift Differential: $4.00/hour.
• Day Shift Weekend Differential: $2.90/hour.
• Evening Shift Weekend Differential: $5.90/hour.
• Night Shift Weekend Differential: $6.90/hour.
• Charge Nurse Differential: $1.00/hour.

Schedule

40 hours/week, 5-8 hour shifts. Day shift, Monday through Friday, with possibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays based on clinic needs. Flexibility is required.
