Registered Nurse Amb (RN) / Cardiac Rehab (Per Diem)

Location: St. Vincent’s Medical Center (Bridgeport, CT). Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM; no weekends or holidays. Per diem RN coverage with extensive orientation and telemetry knowledge required; cardiac background strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Implement and monitor patient care plans.
• Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
• Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patient’s discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
• Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to assess patients and identify physical, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and age-related needs to provide individualized care.
• Delegate aspects of care to other nursing personnel consistent with their level of education and expertise to meet patients’ needs and maximize staff performance.
• Participate in daily interdisciplinary patient rounds.
• Demonstrate knowledge of patients’ condition and provide appropriate input to meet desired outcomes for the patient population.
• Reflect ANA Scope and Standards of Nursing Practice (2015), ANA Code of Ethics (2015), and ANA Social Policy Statement (2015).
• Develop, implement, and revise individualized plans of care.
• Participate in activities for professional growth and development outside of patient care.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited nursing school.
• Associate degree required; BSN preferred.
• Current Connecticut RN license.
• BLS certification by the American Heart Association.
• Experience in cardiovascular nursing.
• Two years of Medical-Surgical/Critical Care experience preferred.
