Tuesday – Saturday | 12:30 PM – 9:00 PM (Full-time)

About the role

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will care for medical emergencies and provide general medical support to students. You will be supported by an experienced leadership team, including a Clinical Director, Executive Director, and Administrative Team, all focused on facilitating lasting positive change for young people and their families. Join a diverse and inclusive team dedicated to supporting LGBTQA+ youth and prioritizing staff training in Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion at our San Martin, CA Short-Term Residential Treatment Center.

Responsibilities

  • Administer medications including injections as needed
  • Manage med room and distribute medication per doctor's orders
  • Submit doctor's orders to pharmacy and facilitate prescription retrieval
  • Communicate with outside providers to obtain medical records
  • Monitor and conduct skin checks for self-harm behavior
  • Determine when a student is to be placed on sick bed due to illness or pain
  • Accompany students to clinic or hospital as needed; communicate findings to parents and the Clinical Director
  • Check vital signs and weight of students as assigned
  • Communicate pertinent medical information to the Treatment Team and Psychiatrist verbally or in written form

Requirements

  • Active CA RN license
  • Active and good standing driver license
  • Current CPR certification
  • Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience in Behavioral Health
  • Experience in a mental or behavioral health setting preferred
  • Experience working with adolescents preferred
  • Experience charting in EMR systems
  • Experience or knowledge of health insurance submission processes
