About the Role
St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center is seeking a Registered Nurse 3 (Psychiatric Educator) to plan, design, and develop training curriculum aimed at improving the knowledge, skills, and abilities of nursing staff.
Responsibilities
- Plan, design, and develop orientation and training curriculum for nursing staff.
- Provide on-the-job training.
- Clinically supervise staff in the provision of nursing services.
- Evaluate training needs and modify programs to ensure effective service delivery.
- Collaborate with nursing management and multidisciplinary treatment teams to develop and revise policies and procedures, ensuring staff competencies are current and in compliance with nursing standards.
Requirements
- Licensed and currently registered as a registered professional nurse in New York State.
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
- Two years of post-licensure nursing experience, including:
- One year of clinical nursing experience working with individuals, at least 50% of whom have been diagnosed with mental illness, addiction, or substance use disorder.
- One year of professional nurse educator experience conducting nurse education and training.
Substitution: A master’s degree in nursing may substitute for 1 year of post-licensure clinical nursing experience. A doctorate in nursing may substitute for 2 years of post-licensure clinical nursing experience.
Candidates within State Service may also qualify with one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

Pay
Posted hiring rate includes the sum of the statutory hiring rate for PS&T Grade 22 ($82,326), an Increase Hiring Rate ($10,852), and Geographic Pay Differential ($20,000). The posted job rate is $124,230 (including Geographic Pay Differential of $20,000). Additional compensation may apply based on shift assignment:
- 7% shift differential for evening shift.
- 10% shift differential for night shift.
