About the Role
Coordinates and delivers patient care using the health care team philosophy practice model. Coordinates and provides patient teaching and discharge planning. Coordinates activities with ancillary departments while maintaining department and hospital standards. This is a Weekender position requiring work every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, with increased hourly pay.

Essential Functions
- Provides the best possible nursing care by planning, organizing, and directing nursing functions for patients on the unit.
- Initiates and implements patient care plans.
- Makes nursing assignments appropriate to the skill level of employees.
- Identifies problems and guides personnel to solutions.
- Creates a working climate that provides growth and job satisfaction.
- Accurately and promptly implements physicians' orders.
- Administers medications and intravenous solutions skillfully and correctly.
- Maintains standards of accurate and complete recording and reporting.
- Arranges for needed supplies and equipment.
- Participates in planning changes and improvements, safety programs, and performance improvement plans.
- Assists in reviewing and revising policies and procedures.
- Respects patients' privacy and maintains confidentiality.
- Displays concern, initiative, and cooperates with nursing staff, medical staff, other departments, and visitors.
- Is prompt, efficient, and maintains good rapport.
Functional Demands
- Prolonged periods of standing, walking, or sitting while on duty.
- Lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds with or without assistance.
- Transferring and repositioning patients.
- Reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching for patient care functions.
- Visual and auditory acuity and manual dexterity essential to performing duties.
- Ability to perform effectively in a stressful and fast-paced environment.
- Exposure to unpleasant sights, odors, hazardous or infectious agents, and stressful situations.
- Direct contact with blood or other body fluids requiring universal precautions.
- Personal protective equipment is provided and must be worn.
- Hours of duty may be irregular or unexpectedly extended due to emergencies.
Qualifications
- Experience: One year of experience as an RN required.
- Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Skills:
- Demonstrates ability to recognize patients' individual needs based on medical conditions, age, and planned procedures.
- Good judgment in delivering patient care.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to function in stressful situations.
- Current CPR certification.
- Willingness to rotate shifts, days off, and work areas; may occasionally require overtime.
- Licensure: Current Mississippi State license as an RN.
