About the role
The Registered Nurse (RN) 1 provides professional nursing services using the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. They are accountable for Minimum Data Set (MDS) assessment data and coordinate residents' care plans through the MDS 3.0 process with the interdisciplinary team.
Responsibilities
- Administer medications, treatments, and direct resident care
- Monitor supplies to ensure adequacy for resident needs
- Communicate residents' needs to medical staff for care coordination
- Participate in residents' admission screening process, including necessary travel
- Create and implement policies and procedures
- Manage finances and conduct performance evaluations
- Maintain infection control standards and wound management
- Support continuous quality improvement programs and provide formal/informal education
- Supervise subordinate professional, paraprofessional, and support staff in resident care duties
- Provide facility supervision and act as a cottage clinical manager (temporary or long-term)
- Participate in supervisory weekend rotation
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor
Requirements
- Current license and registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State
- For reassignment: Permanent or contingent permanent status as a Registered Nurse 1, Grade 18 at the New York State Department of Health Veterans Home at Batavia
- For transfer: One or more years of permanent, contingent-permanent, or 55 b/c service in a position eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law to a Registered Nurse 1, Grade 18
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a Long-Term Care setting with a geriatric population
Pay
Salary range: $96,174 - $105,138 (includes statutory hiring rate, an increased hiring salary of $9,196, and a geographic pay differential of $20,000). Additional pay includes:
- Evening Shift Differential: 7%
- Night Shift Differential: 10%
- Inconvenience Pay: $575 per year for employees working four or more hours between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.
