Areas of Primary Responsibility

  • Maintains the Medication Management Program.
  • Administers and accurately records the administration of medications for residents.
  • Presents medication to residents and observes ingestion or completion of other application or administration techniques.
  • Monitors and reports complications, symptoms, and side effects of medications.
  • Determines and documents the effectiveness of medications.
  • Documents refusals of medications and reasons for non-administration.
  • Stores medications safely and accurately.
  • Maintains accountability measures for medications.
  • Documents daily shift updates and changes in the Daily Shift to Shift Communication Log.
  • Demonstrates safe handling of controlled substances and reports discrepancies.
  • Inspects, cleans, and audits equipment and supplies.
  • Obtains and records vital signs during medication administration.
  • Restocks and reorders resident medications.
  • Documents pertinent information in the resident record and completes incident reports.
  • Follows proper infection control practices.
  • Communicates accurately and factually with residents, staff, and others.
  • Provides verbal encouragement and support to residents.
  • Maintains a safe and clean environment.
  • Participates in and attends in-service training and education programs.
  • Acts as a shift supervisor when necessary.

Qualifications

  • Successfully completed course work and examinations for certification as a Resident Care Associate.
  • Maintains continuing education credits to keep certification as an RMA.
  • Knowledge of safe medication administration techniques.
  • CPR and First Aid certified or willing to obtain as per company policy.
  • Understands and practices resident confidentiality.
  • Able to work weekends and flexible hours.
  • Able to show sincere compassion and genuine concern for seniors and their families.
  • Proficient in basic office equipment, including a personal computer.
  • Lives out Commonwealth Senior Living’s Noble selling purpose.
