Registered Echo Technician

About the role

Join the Cleveland Clinic Florida team, where you will work alongside passionate caregivers and provide patient-first healthcare. As a Registered Echo Technician, you will perform a range of echo and vascular exams at various Martin Health locations. This role offers hands-on learning and can serve as a steppingstone to other careers within the field at Cleveland Clinic.

Floating between Martin North, Martin South, and Tradition Hospitals, as well as St. Lucie West and Stuart Family Health Center, will be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform echocardiograms, stress tests, stress echoes, and Dobutamine stress echoes.
• Assist cardiologists with transesophageal echocardiograms.
• Consult with cardiologists for interpretation of test results.
• Maintain records of testing documentation.
• Provide daily account of patient's charge requisition with appropriate ICD9 codes.
• Provide training and act as a resource for echocardiogram students, residents, and physicians.
• Provide testing for add-on emergency patients.
• Maintain complete and up-to-date documentation and files, including products and service quotes.

Requirements

• Graduate from a two-year Cardiovascular Technologist program.
• Active Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) registry status from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) OR Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) from the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.
• Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, families, physicians, and other caregivers.
• Ability to empathize with patients and families.

Preferred Qualifications

• Five years of experience in echo and vascular ultrasound.

Physical Requirements

• Interact with patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare workers.
• Good hand coordination for positioning of probe and equipment.
• Good vision to analyze computer screens and VCR recordings to diagnose test results.
• Use good judgment in stressful emergency situations.
• Adequate mathematics skills to maintain accurate records and reports.

Physical Duties

• Moderate lifting and positioning of patients.
• Moderate pushing and pulling of equipment.

Working Conditions

• 100% air-conditioned environment.
• Moderate risk of exposure to blood or airborne pathogens.

Personal Protective Equipment

Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.

Schedule

This position works days from 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM, including rotating weekends, holidays, and on-call requirements. Flexibility on start/end times is needed.
