Remote position based in Sioux Falls, South Dakota with up to 20% travel required.
About the role
We are looking to add an experienced registered dietitian to our Corrections Team. You will provide nutritional expertise to field operation employees and clients, ensuring nutritionally adequate, cost-effective menus. This is a non-exempt, hourly role.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with District Manager and Food Service Director to ensure client satisfaction.
- Enter recipes into menu software to ensure consistent end products in all facilities.
- Develop menus in the menu software system for each facility based on state nutritional parameters.
- Make necessary and/or requested changes to menus as needed.
- Assist locations with special dietary needs by providing the Food Service Director with menus for special diet requests.
- Provide and maintain costing of recipes and menus via menu management software.
- Participate in the sales process, including proposal development support, menu development, and providing costs for bid menus.
- Attend new business presentations as needed.
- Understand nutritional requirements and regulatory processes of the National School Lunch (NSLP) and Breakfast Programs (SBP) to plan juvenile menus.
- Participate in the proposal process by reviewing RFPs and providing menus and supporting documents by established deadlines.
- Assist the Dietary Department in meeting identified initiatives and other special projects.
- Follow the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics’ standards of practice and facility regulatory requirements.
- Interact with other departments to set up procedures and policies and solve problems related to dining service and nutrition.
- Actively participate in the development, review, and revision of continuous quality improvement programs.
Requirements
- Passed a national examination administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) or meets the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics requirements for eligibility.
- Completes 75 hours of continuing education every five years, in accordance with the CDR, utilizing the professional portfolio development process.
- Licensed or certified, per state requirements.
- Knowledge of regulation standards specific to comprehensive assessments, care planning, and residents’ rights.
- Ability to teach others, specifically pertaining to nutrition and dietetics.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited Nutrition or Dietetics program and Registration by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
- Excellent work record, superior communication, cooperation, and organizational skills.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Ability to work with a team to support facility and organizational objectives.
- Customer service-oriented.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in nutrition or related field.
- Experience working in healthcare or long-term care.
Pay
$50,000–$55,000 per year.
