Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to determine nutritional needs, including diagnostic evaluation and physiological considerations.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans that incorporate nutrition therapy, weight management strategies, and specialized interventions such as tube feeding.
  • Provide expert guidance on dietary modifications, including managing acute care conditions, geriatrics needs, and long-term care requirements.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate nutrition services, monitor progress, and adjust plans as necessary for optimal outcomes.
  • Educate patients and their families on nutrition principles, health coaching techniques, and lifestyle changes to support long-term wellness.
  • Supervise dietetic staff and interns when applicable, ensuring adherence to standards of practice and quality assurance protocols.
  • Document all assessments, interventions, and progress notes accurately within electronic medical record (EMR) systems while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations.

Qualifications

  • Current registration as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RD or RDN) with an accredited credentialing body.
  • Proven experience in hospital or healthcare settings, with familiarity in acute care, geriatrics, and long-term care environments.
  • Strong knowledge of physiology related to digestion, metabolism, and disease processes affecting nutritional status.
  • Hands-on experience with dietary department operations, care plan development, and patient assessment techniques.
  • Proficiency in EMR systems for documentation and communication across healthcare teams.
  • Demonstrated skills in health coaching, patient education, and motivational interviewing to foster positive behavior change.
  • Supervising experience preferred to lead dietetic staff or interns effectively.
  • Familiarity with tube feeding protocols, weight loss programs, and diagnostic evaluation methods relevant to clinical nutrition.
