Registered Dietitian - Per Diem

About the role

Select Specialty Hospital - Pensacola is a critical illness recovery hospital dedicated to providing world-class inpatient post-ICU services to chronically ill patients. Registered Dietitians are integral in delivering compassionate, high-quality care throughout the recovery process.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and monitor Medical Nutrition Therapies
• Collaborate with medical staff, patients, families, and food service department to ensure nutrition care plans are implemented and departmental standards are maintained
• Conduct nutritional assessments and re-assessments, recommending nutrition interventions and monitoring patient progress
• Develop and monitor enteral and/or parenteral nutrition support regimens
• Work closely with the Speech Therapy Department to facilitate the progression of textured modified diets, ensuring patient safety and optimizing oral intake
• Clarify admission orders to align with the facility's nutrition support formulary and diet manual, considering religious, cultural, and ethnic factors
• Review and approve the therapeutic diet manual annually, maintaining a simplified version for downtime
• Educate clinical and food service staff on the location and use of the Nutrition Care Manual
• Maintain current with nutritional practices and theories, meeting professional registration requirements
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss progress and address special needs
• Develop, plan, and standardize menus, performing meal rounds to ensure consistency with prescribed diets and adherence to quality, quantity, temperature, and appearance standards

Requirements

• Current state licensure/certification, if required by state
• Current registration by the Commission on Dietetics Registration
• One (1) year of work experience in a facility setting with clinical responsibilities or equivalent
