Clinical Nutrition Department

• Collaborative team of registered dietitians and a dietetic technician
• Includes 2 Senior RDs who received reimbursement for their CNSC (Certified Nutrition Support Clinician) exam
• Facility reimburses CDR (Commission on Dietetic Registration) credential verification

Responsibilities

• Provides comprehensive nutrition assessment of patients' nutritional needs, including nutrition-focused physical exams.
• Obtains timely and appropriate data and analyzes/interprets data based on evidence-based standards and established practice guidelines.
• Demonstrates and maintains competency in enteral and parenteral clinical practice protocols and oral nutrition management standard of practice.
• Initiates and manages the nutrition care, writing orders if applicable per state regulations, for all assigned patients including those receiving nutrition support (parenteral and enteral nutrition) per protocols.
• Evaluates effectiveness of the care plan and communicates effectively to other members of the healthcare team to provide optimal nutrition outcomes.
• Provides pertinent information in medical records, patient plans of care, and/or clinical pathways while meeting requirements of regulatory agencies (e.g., Joint Commission, CMS, State, and Local Agencies).
• Provides nutrition education to patients, families, staff, and other healthcare team professionals through effective teaching materials and in-service programs; evaluates response to education.
• Provides leadership in area of coverage, monitors proper patient care procedures, and acts as liaison with nursing areas.
• Serves as mentor to new staff and interns.
• Participates in continuous quality improvement activities in clinical areas to ensure optimal nutrition care outcomes.
• May participate in outcome studies as needed.
• May manage assigned staff: recruits, selects, trains, evaluates, and manages performance.
• Works independently and provides guidance to nutrition services staff in developing nutrition plans.
• May provide community education.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or equivalent coursework (required).
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Experience in nutrition support (both Enteral and Parenteral nutrition).
• New graduates may qualify if they gained nutrition support experience through their internship.
• Must be a Registered Dietitian (RD) or RD Eligible based on academic and professional requirements as defined by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) of The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
• Effective January 1, 2024, CDR requires a minimum of a Master’s degree to be eligible to take the registration examination.
• Must possess RD credentials within 6 months of hire.
• Must hold current registration through the Commission on Dietetic Registration and maintain ongoing verification annually.
• Maintains current licensure as required by State law.
• Must be able to communicate effectively and function independently.
• Must be effective at prioritizing assigned patient case load.
• Employees working in a Behavioral Health clinical setting that serves children must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain it for the duration of employment. An Arizona Criminal History Affidavit must be signed upon hire.

Schedule

Part-Time, 20 hours per week (0.5 FTE): 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM; 2-week alternating schedule with 2 days one week and 3 days the following week. Weekend and holiday rotation included.

Pay

$5,000 sign-on bonus for a 12-month commitment.
