Responsibilities
- Provides diabetes self-management education according to the ADCES Diabetes Care and Education Curriculum
- Provides Nutrition consultation in the assigned interdisciplinary specialty clinics
- Affords a proactive role with patient/family education and patient/family satisfaction in the practice setting
- Affords personal accountability to enhance the patient experience by using high quality, patient satisfaction-directed interactions/tools/activities in the execution of duties
- Always interacts with patients and families in a compassionate and respectful manner, at all times
- Documents nutrition care plans and recommendations and ensures timely availability of information for inclusion in the interdisciplinary care plan
- Participates in training of staff, students, and residents; and as requested by Department Manager, mentors, and provides education on areas of expertise
Requirements
- Diabetes Care and Education Specialist Certification required within 6 months of employment
- Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics or related field required
- Completion of dietetic internship and trainee program or equivalent required
