Job Description And Duties

Effective July 1, 2025, in accordance with the applicable Memorandum of Understanding, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) was implemented. PLP 2025 requires each full-time employee in Bargaining Unit 19, and related Excluded, Exempt and Statutory Exempt employees, will have their base salary reduced by 3 percent and will receive 5 PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 2027. Salaries do not reflect the recent changes.

Part-time employees are subject to the same conditions as full-time employees, on a prorated basis equivalent to their time-base. Permanent intermittent employees are subject to the same condition as full-time employees, based on the number of hours worked in the pay period.

This position is a hybrid position, with required in-person attendance. It is also eligible for some telework potential, subject to operational need at a local level.

Under the clinical direction of Chief Medical Executive and direct supervision of the Food Administrator I/II, Correctional Facility (CF), the Registered Dietitian, CF provides medical nutrition therapy to patients in a correctional health care facility. The Registered Dietitian, CF plans and organizes dietary activity and provides medical nutritional therapy, writes and reviews menus, authorizes substitution or modification of special diets, serves as a member of the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team (IDTT), and provides counseling to patients.

The Registered Dietitian, CF maintains order and supervises the conduct of inmates, and protects and maintains the safety of persons and property.

Qualifications

• Masters degree in Nutrition or related field from an accredited college or university.
• Current California Registered Dietitian license.
• Experience in correctional health care setting preferred.
• Knowledge of nutrition principles and practices.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, staff, and other healthcare professionals.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities.
