About the Organization
Smile Programs is the nation’s leading in-school dental program, founded almost two decades ago by two dentists who are also mothers. The organization addresses the critical need for dental care among underserved school-aged children, many of whom suffer from poor oral hygiene, tooth decay, pain, and associated medical problems. Smile Programs partners with state-licensed dentists, hygienists, and assistants to provide preventative and restorative care directly in schools using portable or mobile dental facilities. The program serves approximately 500,000 children per year across 20 states and partners with over 8,000 school districts, including 21 of the 25 largest in the country.
