Job Responsibilities
- Presents confusing or conflicting guidance to the supervisor for clarification.
- Promotes the company's growth and success by contributing to the positive culture in accordance with the company's core values, mission, and vision.
- Affirms each operatory is cleaned and sanitized, stocked with necessary instruments and supplies, and is ready for patients before the patient is greeted and escorted to the operatory.
- Maintains focus on the patient experience, particularly with new patients, ensuring they have a great patient experience.
- Communicates with patients and helps make sure they are comfortable and feel like they're welcomed and appreciated.
- Reviews patient history and documents in the chart.
- Maintains accurate dental charts and findings.
- Takes radiographs (x-rays) in accordance with established guidelines.
- Assists clinicians in providing treatment.
- Prepares patients for examination and treatment.
- Prepares for and takes alginate impressions as necessary.
- Provides comprehensive post-operative dental instructions to patients (as directed by the clinician).
- Efficiently works with various clinicians.
- Affirms trays are correctly set up for the scheduled procedure.
- Assists other dental assistants, hygienists, and office staff as needed to assure smooth patient flow.
- Prepares lab cases for the following day's schedule and assures the cases are complete and ready.
- Affirms cleanliness, maintenance, and upkeep of instruments, equipment, and facilities.
- Assists in dental/medical emergencies as necessary.
- Sterilizes instruments and disinfects operatories between patients.
- Enters dental supply orders into the order system for review/approval.
- Addresses problems and recommends effective solutions with the work supervisor at the appropriate time and place.
- Cross trains to assist with other job roles as needed.
- Demonstrates excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
- Mets the standards of professional and ethical conduct.
- Schedules patients for appointments.
Qualifications
- High school diploma (or equivalency) and some college.
- Completion of a dental assistant school or training program.
- 1+ years experience as a dental assistant.
- CPR certification.
- Radiograph/x-ray certification.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to work well with others in a fast-paced environment.
- Organized and detail-oriented.
- Enjoys multi-tasking.
- Motivated, friendly, and energetic.
