About the role
At Father Joe’s Villages, our Medical and Dental teams provide compassionate, high-quality care to individuals and families experiencing homelessness and housing instability. Through integrated healthcare services, we help remove barriers to wellness while supporting dignity, stability, and long-term health outcomes for the communities we serve.
Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and materials for patient care and dental procedures.
- Provide advanced ideas and assistance to the Dentist and Dental Hygienist during a variety of treatments and procedures.
- Take and process dental x-rays in accordance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate patient records, treatment documentation, and electronic dental charts in compliance with HIPAA standards.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions.
- Perform expanded functions within RDA scope of practice, which may include impressions, placement and removal of materials, fluoride application, restorative support, and related clinical duties as permitted.
- Sterilize and disinfect instruments and maintain clean, safe treatment areas in compliance with ADA, OSHA, and CDC guidelines.
- Support clinic operations by monitoring supplies, maintaining equipment, completing required trainings, and contributing to overall workflow efficiency.
Requirements
- A High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
- A current Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) certification required.
- A minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Dental Assistant or Registered Dental Assistant in a clinical setting required.
- A current X-ray Certification required.
- A Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification required.
- Familiarity with electronic dental records (EHR) preferred.

Schedule
This is a full-time position, typically scheduled for 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Standard work hours are generally consistent, with some variation possible based on clinic operations and patient care needs.
