Key Responsibilities
- Establishes and maintains a strong therapeutic rapport by pairing with students as a reinforcing, trusted, and motivating presence.
- Prompts safe, socially appropriate replacement behaviors to build communication, social interaction, and problem-solving skills.
- Fades prompts systematically to promote independence and successful responding.
- Increases appropriate behaviors by providing access to reinforcers such as preferred items, activities, attention, or reduced demands.
- Accurately collects and records behavior data including ABC notes, frequency, duration, latency, IRT, event, and interval recording.
- Follows individualized treatment goals and interventions, using sound judgment and seeking consultation when needed.
- Works closely with the special education teacher, related service providers, and families to ensure consistent, effective support.
- Provides families with foundational information on reinforcement, early intervention, and ABA principles.
- Educates others on the role of ABA interventions and maintains appropriate professional boundaries within the BT scope of practice.
Qualifications
- 18 years or older with a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check and abuse registry check.
- RBT certification preferred, or currently pursuing certification.
- Prior ABA or RBT experience preferred, especially in school or autism-support settings.
- Ability to be physically active throughout the school day and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Experience in a school setting, particularly with students with autism, behavior plans, and individualized supports, strongly preferred.
