Registered Architect Project Manager

About the Role

Huitt-Zollars is seeking an entrepreneurial Project Architect in Orlando who shares a desire to lead project work and processes in achieving high-quality design development and execution. This role is ideal for a talented individual with proven project experience, particularly in themed entertainment and hospitality projects. You will collaborate with office principals and fellow architects while managing the design team in partnership with the project manager.

Responsibilities

• Lead assignments through all phases: conceptual design, schematic design, design development, construction documentation, and construction administration.
• Provide strategically minded design support for project organization, production, and execution.
• Represent the firm in client meetings and presentations, demonstrating confidence and professionalism in design and team ideas.
• Coordinate and oversee the project team, including junior architects, consultants, and support staff, across all design and construction phases.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, and contractors, ensuring clear communication and collaboration.
• Develop and refine design concepts aligned with client goals, regulatory requirements, and design excellence.
• Lead the preparation of thorough and accurate construction documents, including drawings, specifications, and details.
• Ensure compliance with building codes, zoning regulations, and industry standards.
• Integrate sustainable design strategies and best practices into project delivery as required.
• Coordinate with consultants and internal teams to meet project milestones on time and within scope.
• Review documents for clarity, completeness, and technical accuracy.
• Facilitate internal and external project reviews to maintain design integrity.
• Contribute to project workplans, resourcing, and workflow monitoring.
• Mentor junior staff and nurture client relationships professionally.
• Promote a positive office culture and collaborate across offices.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of relevant architecture and design experience, with a focus on commercial entertainment and hospitality projects.
• Licensed Architect required.
• Bachelor of Architecture or Master of Architecture degree.
• Proven experience in themed design development, transforming concepts into technically sound and constructable solutions.
• Proficiency in software platforms: Office, Bluebeam, Revit, AutoCAD, Rhino, Adobe, and similar.
• Strong knowledge of building codes, life safety, ADA, and coordination with engineering disciplines.
• Exceptional analytical, organizational, and leadership skills.
• Experience in scope, schedule, budget management, and project metrics.
• Confidence in client interactions and project decision-making.
• Commitment to quality control, risk management, and professional growth.
