Regional Underwriting Manager (East Coast)

Job Overview

The Regional Underwriting Manager (East Coast) supports the underwriting department, providing guidance and oversight to ensure service level agreements are met. They assist with special projects and manage the underwriting pipeline.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide individual coaching, mentoring, and training to Underwriters.
• Escalate questions as needed for clarification.
• Ensure Underwriters understand and apply guidelines, processes, and procedures.
• Complete CTC reviews until Underwriters have earned lending authority.
• Review and analyze various reports daily.
• Conduct spot reviews and assist with loan level production.
• Review loan scenarios and post-closing/credit risk findings.
• Manage pipeline and handle load balancing, rush/priority reviews.
• Communicate with Production Coordinators and attend meetings.
• Interview prospective Underwriters for hire.
• Review and approve timecards and PTO requests.
• Attend and participate in meetings with management.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
• DE, SAR, and LAPP certifications required; USDA experience a plus.
• 5+ years of mortgage underwriting experience (FHA, VA, and Conventional).
• 5+ years of supervisory experience in underwriting.
• Experience with Encompass LOS.
• Knowledge of ATR/QM requirements and compliance/disclosure requirements.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
