Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Identify, document, and report maintenance concerns or equipment defects.
- Safely operate a tractor-trailer in compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
- Drive defensively while adjusting to changing road, traffic, and weather conditions.
- Properly inspect and secure cargo in accordance with FMCSA cargo securement requirements.
- Maintain accurate Hours-of-Service records using an Electronic Logging Device (ELD) or paper logs when required.
- Operate company equipment in a safe and professional manner at all times.
- Deliver freight safely, accurately, and on schedule.
- Provide courteous and professional service to customers during pickups and deliveries.
- Affix and remove trailers at customer facilities as needed.
- Maintain clean and road-ready equipment by sweeping trailers, checking tire condition, ensuring required permits and paperwork are available, and reporting maintenance concerns promptly.
Minimum Qualifications
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL)
- Minimum of 1–2 years of verifiable commercial driving experience
- Current DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate
- Safe driving record
- Strong work ethic and reliability
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work independently while maintaining attention to detail
Driving Record Requirements
- No more than two (2) moving violations within the past three (3) years.
- No more than one (1) chargeable or preventable motor vehicle accident within the past three (3) years.
- No convictions involving driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs within the past seven (7) years.
- No convictions for careless or reckless driving within the past three (3) years.
- No convictions for offenses involving the operation of a commercial motor vehicle, including operating under the influence, transporting controlled substances illegally, or a felony involving the use of a CMV.
- No felony convictions.
- No convictions for misdemeanor domestic violence.
Physical Requirements
- Current DOT medical certification.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds when necessary.
- Ability to assist with loading, unloading, and securing freight.
- Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb during inspections and cargo securement.
- Ability to enter and exit the tractor and trailer multiple times throughout the workday.
- Ability to remain seated for extended periods while operating a commercial motor vehicle.
Working Conditions
- Regional Drivers work outdoors and operate commercial vehicles in a variety of weather and road conditions, including rain, snow, ice, wind, extreme heat, and cold.
- This position requires flexibility to meet customer delivery schedules while maintaining a constant focus on safety and compliance.
