About the role
Drivers are part of the regional plant team, ensuring building materials are delivered according to Morton Building’s safety and quality standards. Responsibilities include moving loaded buildings from regional manufacturing facilities to customer sites, unloading, and staging materials efficiently and profitably within a culture of safety, including strict DOT compliance. Responsibilities
- Plans daily and weekly deliveries in compliance with DOT Hours of Service (HOS) rules.
- Performs pre-trip inspection of equipment and cargo.
- Cooperates with the Shipping Supervisor and Traffic Manager for load or scheduling changes.
- Assists Maintenance in reporting equipment issues early.
- Meets the needs of construction centers and crews consistently.
- Works as a team with other plants to move materials or deliver buildings as needed.
- Mentors new drivers.
- Maintains awareness of safety, efficiency, and profitability; demonstrates problem-solving flexibility.
- Communicates clearly and frequently with the Traffic Manager.
- Exhibits a customer service focus with an emphasis on quality and timeliness.
- Adheres to cost-control processes aligned with projected budgets.
- Fosters a teamwork environment supporting plant and corporate objectives.
Requirements
- Valid Class A CDL with Air Brake Endorsement.
- Available for overnight travel as needed.
- Ability to lift 50–75 lbs.
- Proficiency in understanding and complying with DOT regulations.
- Promotes teamwork and cooperation among drivers and other teams.
- Proven safe driving record and DOT compliance.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to drive for extended periods and work in varying weather conditions at unloading sites.
- Dedication to a workplace environment valuing safety, quality, and continual process improvement.
