Regional Strike Advanced Mechanical Engineer
Basic Qualifications
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering, Technology or Mathematics field. Also requires 5+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 3 years of job-related experience.
Clearance Requirements:
Department of Defense Secret security clearance is obtainable within a reasonable amount of time after hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
Responsibilities
ROLE AND POSITION OBJECTIVES: As an advanced mechanical engineer for regional strike, you'll be a member of a cross functional team working on projects that support some of our nations fundamental defense services. GDMS employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions. The selected candidate will perform complex mechanical design and development in such areas as cabinets, consoles, electronic enclosures, sensors, and integration of Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) electronic equipment. They will support the build, test, and qualification of mechanical components and assemblies. They will also help document all design solutions and changes as required per American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and military standards.

Duties and Tasks:
- Performs design and development in such areas as mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, thermodynamic, or heat transfer for production, transmission, measurement, and use of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines and/or machines
- Conducts feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs
- Provides design information for detailing packaging documentation
- Generally, works within an identified work group
- Collaborates with project leaders and other professionals within the Engineering department
- Works on problems with defined scope, schedule, and expectations
- Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data
