About the role

Federal Signal has an immediate opening for a Regional Service Technician in the southwest region of the United States. The ideal candidate would be based in the Los Angeles area, also supporting Nevada and Hawaii. This position is responsible for completing product installations, troubleshooting customer field issues, providing technical support, and conducting product training presentations.

Responsibilities

  • Provides full line technical support to our customers, distributors, service centers, sales force, and customer support representatives.
  • Performs product repairs, installations and root-cause analysis on the full line of assigned products.
  • Provides product parts identification to our customers, distributors, service centers, sales force, and customer support representatives.
  • Participates in 1sttime build vehicle installations and provides evaluations to management.
  • Creates Return Merchandise Authorizations (RMA’s); places parts orders for customers; and interfaces with applicable systems to create cases and/or document customer issues.
  • Writes knowledge base articles within the Service Cloud system.
  • Provides technical support for all products including installation procedures and makes recommendations in order to insure products will operate correctly.
  • Works with Engineering, Marketing, Quality, Production and other departments in the development of new products and resolution of product failures.
  • Solves product related problems in the field by communicating to customers via direct or indirect methods in order to maintain customer satisfaction.
  • Conducts training seminars for all products to our customers, distributors, service centers, sales force, and customer support representatives.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Electronics Technology or other relevant course of study or equivalent work experience.
  • Five (5) years’ experience in a service related field.
  • Good knowledge of assigned products and solutions, their associated technologies as well as their applications.
  • Proven ability to make sound decisions and recommendations.
  • Resourceful, confident and capable of solving problems.
  • Effective communicator - in person, writing and through various other media, to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Solid team orientation, possessing integrity, strong work ethic and partnering and collaboration skills.
  • Capable and comfortable taking direction and input from multiple sources.
  • Good organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Willingness to travel 100%, often involving overnight stays.
