About the Role
Chart Industries is seeking a Regional Sales Manager to drive sales of our municipal wastewater treatment solutions across the western half of the U.S. and all of Canada. This role focuses on securing contracts for manufactured water treatment solutions from municipal, private water utility, commercial, and industrial markets within the assigned territory.
Responsibilities
- Generate new sales and own the planning, strategizing, and execution of the sales plan for assigned markets.
- Meet annual sales and pipeline growth goals for the territory.
- Actively and accurately manage the opportunity pipeline using Salesforce, updating opportunities with timely information and providing bookings forecasts.
- Develop the territory and identify leads by establishing relationships with engineers, end users, operators, trade organizations, regulators, and contractors.
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of wastewater treatment processes, technologies, products, and differentiators.
- Apply knowledge of the bidding process, practices, standard terms and conditions, and commercialization pathways in the territory.
- Guide customers through the discovery process, identifying needs and positioning Chart as the preferred solution.
- Communicate efficiently and clearly with the Applications Engineering team to develop proposals.
- Review proposals, support bid preparation, assess competitive positioning, and contribute to internal pricing approval processes.
- Proactively communicate with customers on the status of deliverables and expected delivery timelines.
- Prepare key target and travel plans according to the assigned budget and execute them.
- Prepare and deliver technical presentations for webinars, lunch-and-learns, and regional trade shows.
- Lead relationships with Manufacturer’s Representatives/Agents in the territory, leveraging mutual strengths for successful outcomes.
- Proactively communicate expectations on projects, including commission structures.
- Participate in regional trade shows, submit abstracts, and present whenever possible.
Physical Work Environment
- Frequent travel required.
- Physical demands include standing, sitting, and stooping.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of sales experience.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Industrial equipment sales experience; preference for experience in water or wastewater treatment.
- Knowledge of centrifugal blowers preferred.
- Ability to understand and interpret customer aeration requirements and identify potential solutions.
- Strong presentation and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated with the emotional intelligence and relationship skills required for effective cold calling, qualifying prospects, and identifying key customers.
- Organized and analytical, with the ability to eliminate sales obstacles through creative and adaptive approaches.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships internally, working with multiple departments in a matrix organization to problem-solve and serve customers.
- Manage multiple priorities with an "Own the Outcome" mentality and work ethic.
