Regional Sales Manager responsible for the successful management of total sales and expense objectives for the Northeast grocery region and assigned accounts. Accountable for all sales-related expense management, including travel, overhead, promotion/advertising, trade spend, and broker commissions. Manages a broker network and a mix of direct and distributor-supplied customers within the assigned geographical area.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve sales and expense budgets for the assigned territory.
  • Review, evaluate, and report data-driven results against objectives continuously.
  • Work closely with regional and channel leadership to develop and execute strategic initiatives (e.g., promotional programs, distribution initiatives).
  • Provide ongoing sales and expense forecasting as requested and participate in monthly planning calls.
  • Manage and evaluate trade spending efficiency in collaboration with the Director of Sales Planning.
  • Utilize data-driven resources and tools (IRI, SPINS, Retailer/Distributor Portal Data, Planful, Power BI) to drive business decisions.
  • Evaluate and manage a broker and distributor network within the sales division.
  • Participate in the development of regional marketing strategies (digital and shopper marketing) and point-of-sale materials with the Marketing Department.
  • Manage top trade customers within the sales division and participate in national/regional trade shows.
  • Maintain business relationships across the selling network and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Seek professional development opportunities to refine skills.
  • Travel up to 40% for customer visits, broker HQ meetings, market tours, trade shows, and company meetings.
  • Adhere to SOP, SSOP, GMP, and HACCP guidelines when in the plant.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Eastern Regional Focus

  • Responsible for key accounts: Wegman’s, Tops, Price Chopper, Shaw’s, Associated Grocers of New England, Hannaford’s, Dave’s Marketplace, Roche Brothers, Big Y, Bozzuto’s, and other assigned customers.
  • Develop and manage all Eastern/Northeast grocery regional customer accounts.
  • Conduct regular market tours and account meetings/reviews.
  • Manage and develop the Northeastern broker network, providing focus for assigned HQ and field-level broker team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor-level education.
  • Minimum of 5 years of sales and sales management experience within the food industry.
  • Solid background in managing multi-channel businesses.
  • Experience within the assigned customer geography preferred.
  • Experience in both direct sales and broker/distributor management is a plus.
  • Proven track record of developing territory and key account businesses.
  • Experience in an entrepreneurial company is an asset.
  • Knowledge of the US retail landscape (Natural/Specialty/Grocery/Mass/Club) is a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
