Responsibilities
- Provides quality leadership for SSAB’s internal and external customers in all assigned tasks, upholding SSAB’s Values through constructive problem solving, facilitating creative improvements, and inspiring others.
- Achieves the region’s revenue and profitability quotas for SSAB products sold into all customer segments; establishes an environment and foundation for future sales growth; sells and teaches others how to sell value and solutions.
- Develops and increases sales revenue to meet assigned goals; establishes, maintains, and expands customer base; services the needs of existing customers; and prioritizes effectively in accordance with corporate objectives.
- Develops and maintains in-depth knowledge of company products, processes, markets, competitors, buying influences, customers, and customer processes to maximize efficiency and effectiveness, including updating and maintaining the CRM tool.
- Strategizes sales plans for short- and long-term objectives, including forecasting.
- Defines and implements regional sales plans; writes presentations, reports, price quotations, and supports contract negotiations.
- Evaluates market trends and gathers regional competitive information to identify trends affecting current and future growth of regional sales and profitability; informs the company of such activities and marketplace conditions in a timely manner.
- Prospects new business through research, lead lists, and contacts made at trade shows; drives the implementation of Value-Added Service offerings and advanced Steel Competence Cluster solutions.
- Fosters relationships with Inside Sales, Customer Service, Technical Development Managers (TDMs), Marketing, Product Support, Global Services, Finance, and Engineering employees.
- Strives for self-improvement by establishing and working to reach professional and personal development goals.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, or a related field from an accredited college or university, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3–8+ years of experience in sales within the steel, mining, industrial, recycling, or maintenance repair industry.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
- Extremely organized with excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Experience with drawings, working with templates, and a basic understanding and interest in CAD and nesting software.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, maintain a positive attitude, and provide exemplary customer service.
- Ability to work independently and carry out assignments to completion within prescribed routines and standard practices.
- Strong analytical skills, exceptional judgment, dependability, excellent teamwork, good time management, delegation ability, creativity, problem-solving, professional competence, and proactivity.
- Maintains good public relations by displaying dedication, courtesy, and professional competence recognized by customers.
- Demonstrated record of achievement in prior sales positions, strong closing skills, and the ability to learn and retain product-specific information to position features and benefits to customers.
- Current and active driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, or a related field from an accredited college or university, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 8+ years of experience in sales within the steel, mining, industrial, recycling, or maintenance repair industry, including supervisory experience.
- Prior attendance at formal sales training courses.
Schedule
Travel 75% of the time in the field at customer sites (4 days on the road, 1 admin day on Friday).
