About the Role

The Regional Sales Director (RSD) is responsible for achieving and exceeding sales objectives established by Saybrus Institutional Annuity Management. This includes overall production by distribution channel, product, and penetration rate. The RSD functions as an external wholesaler of annuity products, working with representatives of client firms to offer clear context, effective sales concepts, and product/technical guidance.

Responsibilities

  • Support assigned national and local accounts through individual representative appointments, educational group sessions, and conferences.
  • Promote annuity portfolio to bank and broker-dealer representatives.
  • Provide case and product design support, fact-finding, and discovery with assigned representatives.
  • Train representatives on annuity products, features, and sales ideas.
  • Assist representatives with the new business process.
  • Develop and implement an activity plan that maximizes field contacts within assigned territory and/or assigned relationships.
  • Maintain accurate records of sales calls, cases opened, actions taken, and other pertinent data.
  • Monitor actual sales results; compare results to plan forecast and adjust as needed (at least quarterly, with the Regional Sales Manager).
  • Leverage and coordinate regional and Home Office resources.
  • Utilize technology (Salesforce.com) to log advisor data, activity data, and other pertinent information (daily use is mandatory).
  • Support Saybrus and annuity manufacturers at industry functions (local, regional, and potentially national level).
  • Establish and maintain strategic national, regional, and local relationships within the region.
  • Manage a specific Travel & Expense budget.
  • Effectively partner with internal wholesale support.
  • Adhere to all relevant compliance requirements and standards.

Requirements

  • Strong working understanding of, and solid relationships within, bank and broker/dealer channels.
  • Working knowledge of all forms of annuities (e.g., fixed, MYGA, VA, FIA, RILA).
  • Understanding of how FIAs are incorporated into a client’s portfolio.
  • Ability to explain how the product line fits into an overall solutions-based plan.
  • Broad and comprehensive knowledge of products sold by registered representatives.
  • Understanding and ability to explain the sales process.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent presentation skills, including conducting face-to-face meetings, webinars, and speaking in front of larger audiences.
  • Ability to work effectively with little daily supervision—self-starting, highly organized, and goal/results-oriented.
  • FINRA Series 6 or 7 (or obtained within 90 days of hire) and appropriate state life & annuity insurance licenses.
  • Current Life Insurance License (Life and Variable Lines).
  • Proficient in utilizing relevant technology (e.g., laptop computers, PowerPoint).
  • Approximately 5 years of wholesaling experience in the bank and broker/dealer space.
