Job Description We are seeking a Regional Field Safety Manager to join our federal team primarily supporting our Outside the Continental United States (OCONUS) region. This is a remote / virtual (work from home role) with the ability to travel overseas at times to support projects overseas. The Field Safety Manager (FSM) is responsible for the execution of the Johnson Controls Federal Systems safety program within the region they support. In partnership with the Operations function, the FSM will implement strategic safety initiatives, applicable to U.S. government federal projects which build and sustain the region’s culture of safety excellence. This position supports multiple region’s safety on federal programs, validates adherence to the requirements, goals, and directs improvement planning efforts. The FSM serves as the subject matter expert and provides federal government customer-specific technical support on safety matters to the region. The position may lead a team of Site Safety & Health Officers (SSHO’s) and safety contractors. Location: Primarily supports the Outside the Continental United States region. Remote / Virtual (work from home) with the ability to travel overseas at times. Typical travel is around 2-3 weeks at a time, but is based on project needs Benefits: Eligible for benefits on first day of employment Vacation: 3 weeks of paid vacation, 5 sick days, 3 floating holidays, and 10 standard holidays per calendar yea As a Field Safety Manager, You Will Lead the safety program for a designated operational area of the federal business, which includes military installations and other federal government sitesGuide, assist, and develop Site Safety & Health Officers (SSHO) as neededFoster relationships with Regional Operations Managers, Project Managers and SSHO's; partnering with them to continuously drive improvement of the JCI Federal Safety ProgramMaintain and grow knowledge & expertise in Occupational Safety & Health regulations and best practices while serving as subject matter expert for dedicated regionProvide mandatory safety training, including OSHA Outreach Training to employees and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations in addition to U.S Army Corps of Engineers safety and health requirementsConduct audits, risk assessments, compliance inspections, and accident investigations throughout regionsMaintain safety records as necessary to ensure corporate compliance including federal, state, local, internal, and customer audit logsLead safety function with analytics and data in order to influence behavior of organizationTrack and manages close call program Contribute to the improvement process of corporate safety policies and proceduresWrites and reviews accident prevention plans (APP's) and activity hazard analyses (AHA) for new projects or tasks, ensuring first time submittal approvalsReview subcontractor submittals for work to be performed, including crane lift plans, methods of procedure, and activity hazard analysesResponsible for vehicle fleet safety within assigned regionsLead new employee onboarding for safety in assigned regions to ensure issuance of PPE and the assignment of location specific safety training Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in a safety or environmental related field, or equivalent experienceMust be able to obtain OSHA 500 Instructor Certificate within 12 months of assignment6+ years of experience in construction and/or construction service-related safety oversightExperience and understanding of working in federal contracting environmentAbility to obtain and maintain federal security clearanceProficiency with Microsoft Office softwareAbility to travel overseas, up to 35-50% Preferred Qualifications Possess or be working towards a safety related professional certification (CSP, CHCM, CHMM, CIH, CHST, etc.)OSHA 1926 Construction Industry 30-hour training (OSHA 1910 General Industry 30-hour training and EM385-1-1 40-hour training a plus)Strong background in Electrical Safety, Arc Flash, Lock Out/Tag Out, Fall Protection, Lifting DevicesGovernment secret level security clearanceProficiency with EM-385-1-1 or NAVFAC government safety standards Who We Are At Johnson Controls (NYSE:JCI), we are One Team working collaboratively to create purposeful solutions that make a difference in the world.
