About the role
The Regional Manager - Sales serves as the principal market-based leader for all sales, revenue generation, and promotion activity in assigned growth territories, which may include cable, CLEC, ILEC, expansion, and acquisition markets. The primary objective is to lead a team of managers to maximize sales revenues and meet corporate objectives consistently. This role focuses on optimal sales team staffing, training, and readiness of sales professionals.
The Regional Manager collaborates with the Vice President - Sales to develop financial and operational objectives, align operational plans with business goals, and contribute to functional strategy development and execution. The incumbent directs acquisition, retention, and growth activities for assigned markets and leads a management team across various sales channels, including outside sales, inside sales, account management, and indirect channels.
The role oversees the execution of the “go-to-market” strategy by linking sales, account management, and customer support teams with other business units such as Marketing, Human Resources, IT, Network Services, and Network Operations. This ensures timely implementation of customer sales and fulfillment of the TDS value proposition and brand promise.
This position will be located in the Appleton, WI/Mosinee, WI area.
Responsibilities
- Develop, lead, and mentor a team of dedicated managers to drive sales teams toward meeting and exceeding goals for customer and commercial RGU (Revenue Generating Unit) additions.
- Acquire, retain, and grow the assigned customer base and revenues in highly competitive markets.
- Promote a “hunting” sales culture using activity-based lead measures for sales channels.
- Develop territory management and customer targeting strategies to meet sales goals across TDS markets, including customers, specific units (RGUs), monthly recurring charge (MRC) adds, and total billed revenue (TBR).
- Provide and craft company/product positioning.
- Forecast monthly and quarterly sales and install performance.
- Lead contributor on sales technology, process, and go-to-market initiatives by providing company-wide support for commercial sales teams, including coordinating and facilitating interdepartmental communication.
- Improve processes and resolve escalated customer/company problems.
- Advocate for cooperative solutions that benefit TDS and customers.
- Drive solutions by effectively representing sales channels and customer channels with product/marketing teams (idea generation, pricing recommendations, product promotion development).
- Participate in developing and executing the vision and strategic imperatives for the Commercial Sales Teams, including:
- Develop tactical plans for base protection, competitive threats, growth, and market development.
- Craft and implement action plans to deliver and explain strategy and tactical plans to the field.
- Collaborate with Finance and Marketing in the annual budgeting process and monthly forecasting.
- Interface with senior management to ensure overall achievement of revenue goals and profitability on specific projects.
- Maintain key customer contacts and serve as a senior resource for sales negotiations with new and existing accounts.
- Represent TDS at local, civic, business, and charitable events throughout the service territory.
- Participate in professional organizations, trade shows, industry events, and customer entertainment activities.
- Maintain relationships with contacts, lead sources, and key customers.
- Perform other duties, including department-wide assignments and special projects as required by the VP of Sales.
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) or 4+ years of professional work experience.
- Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license, insurance, and access to reliable transportation.
- 5+ years of sales management experience.
- 4+ years of telecommunications experience.
- 4+ years of business sales experience.
Other Qualifications:
- Mastery of the B2B sales process and a track record of developing others in sales effectiveness.
- Track record of success in leading competitive telecommunications service sales teams, measured by customer acquisition, business retention, and revenue growth.
- Ability to clearly and effectively set and attain goals, evidenced by a track record of setting goals, creating work plans, establishing rewards, measuring performance, adjusting as necessary, and accomplishing goals.
- Experience utilizing a CRM system, preferably Salesforce.com.
- Entrepreneurial mindset: take ownership in developing business opportunities, take responsibility for team success, identify and pursue new revenue opportunities, and persist when faced with challenges.

- Successful history of recruiting, training, and supporting sales team members.

Pay
The listed salary includes both base pay and potential earnings from meeting sales quotas. The final offer will be based on factors such as skills, qualifications, experience, location, and role-specific competencies. With uncapped commission incentives, you’ll have unlimited earning potential.
Pay Range: $115,800.00/Yr. - $188,200.00/Yr.
