Regional Field Service Technician - Rochester, MN

About the role

As a SERVICE+ Technician, you will provide technical service and support for low-tension polymer belting technology in conveyor applications across a territory with a 5- to 6-hour (400-mile) radius centered in the Rochester, Minnesota area. This role requires occasional travel throughout North America, including Canada, though minimal. You will build relationships with maintenance managers at customer plants, collaborate with commercial account managers, and generate detailed customer-facing reports. Your role supports both proactive and reactive customer connections, emphasizing world-class service and results.

Responsibilities

• Support and promote low-tension polymer conveyor belt applications.
• Communicate and build relationships with account managers and customers.
• Coordinate and perform belt installations in customer facilities.
• Troubleshoot and correct problem installations or applications in the field.
• Determine and communicate opportunities for improvement on-the-fly.
• Provide technical assistance and training to salespeople and customers remotely (phone, reports, webcasts) and in person at customer facilities.
• Inspect conveyors to gather detailed technical information on opportunities for improvement.
• Communicate belt and conveyor recommendations verbally and in written reports.
• Arrange and execute efficient travel on short notice, including nights and weekends.
• Perform belt performance program calculations occasionally.
• Maintain the professional appearance and safe operation of the service van and equipment.
• Focus on Food customers within a specific North American geographic region.
• Periodic air travel required; reasonable access to a regional airport is necessary.
• Engage in relentless self-evaluation and continuous improvement to enhance customer interactions.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; further education is a plus.
• At least two years of manufacturing, mechanical, or agricultural experience.
• Strong mechanical background, ideally with experience in processing or conveying equipment.
• Ability to set priorities, utilize resources, and manage visits with minimal supervision.
• Customer service-oriented personality and approach.
• Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
• Computer proficiency, including demonstrated experience with Microsoft products.
• Preferred OSHA safety training certification.
• Ability to independently drive a service van to appointments and lodgings.
• Desire to travel regionally to North American customer locations, including Canada.
• Approximately 70% travel or 168 days away per year, with most travel within 5 hours driving distance of your home location.
• Ability to occasionally lift up to 75 pounds.
• Reside inside the geographic territory borders; Rochester, MN is optimal as the center.
