Regional Environmental Health Safety Specialist -South

Safety & Regulatory Compliance

Support the implementation and continuous improvement of company safety programs, policies, and procedures. Assist with compliance efforts related to OSHA, EPA, local environmental regulations, and company standards. Conduct routine safety inspections, audits, observations, and workplace assessments. Identify hazards, communicate findings, and assist departments in developing corrective actions. Assist with maintaining regulatory records, permits, inspections, and compliance documentation. Support environmental programs, including wastewater, SPCC, stormwater, waste management, and chemical management programs.

Employee Engagement & Safety Culture

Build strong relationships with employees and supervisors through regular floor presence. Participate in safety committee meetings and employee engagement initiatives. Encourage employee involvement through hazard reporting, safety observations, and near-miss reporting. Respond to employee concerns and ensure timely follow-up on safety issues. Promote a positive and proactive safety culture throughout the facility.

Training & Onboarding

Coordinate and conduct new hire safety orientation when needed. Facilitate safety training programs, toolbox talks, and refresher training as required. Assist with managing training records and Learning Management System (LMS) requirements. Conduct contractor and visitor safety orientations. Help ensure all required safety training remains current and compliant.

Incident Management

Assist with incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action development. Participate in injury, illness, near-miss, and property damage investigations. Track corrective actions and verify completion. Support reporting requirements and documentation related to workplace incidents.

Program Development & Continuous Improvement

Aid in developing and updating safety procedures, SOPs, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and Lockout/Tagout procedures. Support implementation of company safety initiatives and annual objectives. Assist with industrial hygiene activities, including noise monitoring, air sampling, hearing conservation, respiratory protection, and chemical exposure evaluations. Participate in special projects focused on improving employee safety, environmental compliance, and operational performance.

Collaboration & Sustainability

Partner with bakery leadership to identify opportunities to reduce environmental impact and improve operational efficiency. Promote employee awareness and engagement in sustainability programs and initiatives.
