About the Role
Keep our operations moving across the region as a key part of our transportation team. As a Regional Driver, you will operate a tractor-trailer to safely and efficiently pick up and deliver freight between company and customer locations, supporting drop-and-hook and live load/unload operations. You will play a critical role in maintaining reliable delivery schedules while upholding all DOT regulations and company standards. This role is ideal for a safety-focused, dependable professional who takes pride in representing the Perdue Farms brand on the road and is comfortable traveling away from home for extended periods.
Responsibilities
- Maneuver and deliver/backhaul truckloads of product and materials to plants, customers, and distributors as assigned.
- Observe and maintain all Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements regarding hours of service, logbook, vehicle inspections, load inspections, and securing load, including utilizing electronic logging devices (paper logs when needed) and onboard vehicle tracking systems.
- Operate a tractor and trailer in a legal and safe manner consistent with all Federal, State, and Local laws, regulations, and Company policies, including the use of all onboard safety features.
- Complete and submit all Company paperwork, such as manifest, bill of lading, proof of delivery pay envelopes, overage, shortage, damaged claims, and trip reports.
- As assigned, physically load and unload products.
- Ensure seal/security (trailer locked) integrity and report accurate/verified case counts and product condition during deliveries.
- Transport loads outside of normal scope (e.g., location, schedule, or customer) to meet business needs as required by Perdue Transportation.
Requirements
- High School Graduate or GED.
- Minimum two years of over-the-road Tractor/Trailer driving experience; refrigerated trailers preferred.
- Valid Class A CDL License.

- Strong communication skills.
Physical Requirements and Environmental Factors
- Able to drive a tractor with a trailer and remain seated for extended periods per DOT regulations.
- Able to sleep while another driver drives.
- Able to withstand bouncing and vibration from truck and road conditions.
- Able to lift boxes up to 40 pounds to load/unload products.
- Exposed to fuel, oil, extreme temperatures (0-100°F), humidity (0-100%), and noise (50db to 100db).
- Required to travel to customers, distributors, plant facilities, and other remote locations.
