Regional Director of Operations - East
Job Summary
The Regional Director of Operations (RDO) will support the Region and Sales management teams in optimizing warehouse and delivery costs while maximizing growth, profitability, and service delivery. The RDO will have direct oversight of the Eastern regional supply chain network and make measurable impacts on the Eastern region through improving overall profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Management: Focuses close attention on new business plans, financial reports, and existing business profitability, advising regional management of improvements needed, and providing options to enhance customer profitability as well as overall profitability of the Region.
- Budget Preparation and Monitoring: Assists Regional Management in the preparation of the annual operating budget for the Region, monitors Region actual results versus budget, implements cost savings initiatives where applicable, and makes recommendations to Region Management to eliminate excess spending.
- Operational Excellence: Drives continuous improvement culture with structured prioritization aligned with business strategies, translates business requirements into supply chain initiatives, develops business cases, and compares to best practices. Balances team resources between day-to-day responsibilities, ad hoc needs, and long-term initiatives.
- Warehouse Capacity Strategies: Supports the process for developing warehouse capacity strategies to in the Eastern Region’s respective markets, works closely with corporate leadership in monitoring Region support roles in connection with Supply Chain, Warehouse Logistics, and Procurement.
- Pricing Decisions: Identifies areas to improve profitability for key accounts and new business opportunities through the implementation and application of a cost to serve model, ensures the Company maximizes each customer's return on sales, understands operating procedures, and makes recommendations to improve Region efficiency and performance.
- Management and Oversight: Manages to standard KPIs to ensure a continuous improvement environment exists across all departments, performs strategic analyses and benchmarking on key metrics including revenue, costs, margins, and customer profitability, ensures staff maintains consistent compliance with corporate policies and procedures, communicates timely and effectively on all appropriate aspects of business management with designated Region Manager, Sales Management, and staff within designated areas.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in Logistics, Management, or a related operations discipline.
- 10+ years in operational roles within a significant B2C retailer: distribution, transportation, engineering, inventory management preferred.
- 3+ years in consulting roles within B2C retail: experience with network modeling and facility startups preferred.
- Experience managing transportation spend > $75M across small parcel, LTL, and import modes strongly preferred.
- Experience driving contract negotiations across multiple service providers: transportation, real estate, professional services.
- Multi-location experience.
Qualifications
- Experience working within a pricing or profitability role.
- ERP/MRP/WMS experience.
