About the role
This position serves as a liaison between the Corporate Office and Properties, reporting directly to the Vice President of Accounting. The role ensures financial accuracy, compliance, and effective communication across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Advise promptly on any concerning financial matters.
- Review and sign off on all financial statements, forecasts, cash flows, and balance sheets.
- Review balance sheet accounts, ensuring adequate support and documentation for all accounts; create plans and timelines to correct deficiencies.
- Ensure P&L accuracy and timeliness through effective accounting workflow planning, close management, and optimization of checklists and documentation tools.
- Ensure property compliance with USALI, GAAP, and Company accounting policies and procedures.
- Ensure satisfaction of legal requirements and contractual obligations (including management agreements) using internal controls, auditing, and security procedures.
- Ensure hotels' compliance with regulatory licenses, permits, leases, contracts, legal agreements, and operational taxes.
- Lead involvement in tax audits and internal/external audits; assist in coordinating responses to governmental agencies.
- Collaborate with Regional Directors of Finance, Property Controllers, and the Vice President of Accounting to ensure effective coordination and best practices.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for finance division matters, ensuring implementation and adherence to SOPs, training manuals, systems, and service standards.
- Coach and mentor direct reports to develop their potential, establish clear expectations, and provide tools and training for growth.
- Work with transition and ownership teams for onboarding and offboarding properties to ensure smooth and accurate hotel transition activities.
- Assist in recruiting, reviewing, and recommending prospective finance team members (e.g., Directors of Finance, Assistant Directors of Finance, Accounting Managers).
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
- 8+ years of experience in finance or accounting; hotel finance/accounting experience preferred.
- Experience in a high-growth, fast-paced, multi-unit hospitality (food & beverage or hotel) environment preferred.
- Experience with Profit Sword (or other Budgeting and Planning enterprise-level software) and Enterprise Resource Planning/Accounting platforms strongly preferred.
- Experience developing financial forecasting, budgets, cash flow forecasting, and financial reporting and analysis.
Skills
- Superior verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to generate enthusiasm and speak knowledgeably about financial planning and hotel accounting best practices.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent interpersonal and technical communication skills; ability to clearly communicate complex ideas and tailor messaging to the audience.
- Thorough understanding of accounting and financial best practices, with knowledge of hotel finance, hotel information, and financial systems.
- Superior organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to plan, prioritize, and multitask; sound judgment.
- Solution-oriented mindset—identifies the source of challenges to adopt long-term solutions.
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), USALI, and general accounting practices.
- Ability to read and understand basic contract elements (e.g., management agreements, terms, priorities, and profit distribution).
- Strong business acumen—understanding, utilizing, and analyzing business information.

Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
Pay
Salary range for this position is $175,000 to $195,000 annually.
