Regional Director
About the role
Compass Academy Network (CAN) is a growing nonprofit that partners with rural communities to provide free summer enrichment programs for middle school students. Our programs inspire curiosity, confidence, and character—while offering college students paid teaching internships alongside seasoned educators. Together, we’re strengthening the next generation of learners and leaders in rural America.
Responsibilities
- Direct planning, staffing, logistics, and evaluation for summer programs and academic year programs at approximately six Missouri sites anticipated to be centered in Southwest Missouri.
- Recruit, train, and supervise Program Directors, teachers, and Peer Mentors.
- Lead student, faculty, and Peer Mentor recruitment to achieve full enrollment.
- Build partnerships with school districts, community leaders, and donors.
- Ensure safety, compliance, and consistency across all locations.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred (Education, Administration, Youth Development, or related field). 5‑7 years experience in education or youth development including administrative experience (rural experience a plus). The role is well suited to coaches and school administrators. Strong leadership, communication, and operational management skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management tools. Willingness to travel as needed to sites in Missouri; some evenings/weekends required.
Schedule
This is a full‑time position. For the appropriate candidate, the position may be structured as a 75% commitment—approximately 25–30 hours per week—during the academic year, with full‑time work May – August, to accommodate a current commitment such as a coaching position. In all cases, Compass is the Regional Director’s primary and first professional responsibility.
