Regional Biologist

Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage program operations including project identification, development, and delivery
• Prepare agreements and management plans
• Coordinate with private landowners and public agency partners
• Secure public and philanthropic grants
• Fiscal budget management of the program

Additional Responsibilities

• Develop, coordinate, and guide field-level implementation of DU conservation projects
• Build and implement an effective, sustainable conservation program
• Identify and help deliver cost-share partnerships
• Auxiliary with annual monitoring on DU conservation easements
• Support public policy objectives
• Support state and regional efforts
• Assist fundraising staff

Qualifications

• Minimum Bachelor of Science degree in a natural resources field
• Advanced degree preferred
• Waterfowl biology and wetland ecology emphasis desirable
• Knowledge of wetland restoration, freshwater wetland ecology, large floodplain restoration, climate resiliency, and wildlife habitat management preferred
• Basic knowledge of state and federal lands protection programs and applicable laws, and state and federal wetland conservation programs, policies, and laws
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as inter-personal skills
• Proven grant writing and administrative skills desired
• Track record of successfully leading a landscape level program with diverse partnerships
• Experience with project management
• Ability and willingness to travel frequently, including overnight travel
