Job Description

Removes garbage from residential areas and assists in the proper disposal of garbage collected.

Essential Functions/ Job Competencies/ Physical Requirements

- Empties containers into compactor on garbage truck. - Operates hydraulic levers located on truck. - Checks sidewalks and curbs to ensure area is clean. - Inspects all carts for objects that may damage equipment (dirt, iron, wood or rocks). - Picks up trash and assists with street maintenance activities as required. - Assists in maintaining good communication between staff, visitors, and other business contacts. - Must follow all rules of telephone courtesy in all telephone communications. - Will be required to drive a City vehicle for City business use. - Performs other related duties as assigned.

Work Environment/Conditions and Physical Demands

Physical Effort Requirements: Position will have the following exposures: - Frequent exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards. Majority of work performed outside or with exposure to risk. - Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.

Minimum Qualifications

- Required Education and Experience: At least eighteen (18) years of age. - Valid Licenses and Certifications: Valid Texas Driver License. If applicant holds an out-of-state license, a State of Texas Driver License must be obtained within 6 months of employment.
