Refugee Resettlement | Education Liaison Intern

Principles

The Refugee Services Department at Catholic Charities supports government-approved refugees in achieving stability and self-sufficiency through various services including cultural orientation, case management, employment support, family reunification, referrals, and community integration.

Responsibilities

• Create program activities, lesson plans, and curriculum for the School Impact team.
• Provide academic and social emotional support to students during intervention and after school programs.
• Participate in parent engagement activities, including classes and informational sessions.
• Assist with family outreach and communication as needed.
• Complete service documentation in the agency’s database accurately and in a timely manner.
• Track student progress and support goal setting under staff supervision.
• Collaborate with school personnel and program staff to ensure coordinated support for students.

Qualifications

• Graduate or undergraduate student in Social Work, Education, Psychology, or a related field.
• Valid Texas Driver’s License.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
• Ability to work effectively with children from diverse cultural backgrounds.
• Professionalism, patience, and confidentiality.
• Basic administrative and computer skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Teams, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint).
• Customer service and community outreach experience (preferred).
• Data entry accuracy.
• Bilingual skills preferred (Arabic, Spanish, Swahili, Pashto, Dari, Farsi, or other refugee languages).
