Responsibilities
- Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain refrigeration systems, food service equipment, and related components according to specifications and codes.
- Inspect and diagnose malfunctioning refrigeration and food service equipment to identify the root cause of the issue.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning coils, checking refrigerant levels, lubricating moving parts, and maintaining food service equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Repair or replace defective components, including compressors, condensers, evaporators, electrical controls, and parts of food service equipment.
- Test systems for leaks using specialized tools and equipment and perform necessary repairs or replacements.
- Perform electrical and mechanical troubleshooting to identify and resolve issues in both refrigeration and food service equipment.
- Calibrate controls and adjust system settings to achieve desired temperatures and humidity levels in refrigeration systems.
- Keep accurate records of maintenance and repair work performed, including parts used and labor hours.
- Adhere to safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
- Provide technical support and guidance to customers and other team members regarding both refrigeration and food service equipment as needed.
- Stay current with advancements in refrigeration technology, food service equipment maintenance, and industry best practices through training and professional development opportunities.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent; completion of a vocational or technical school program in refrigeration or HVAC is preferred.
- Certification as a Refrigeration Technician or HVAC Technician is advantageous.
- Proven experience working as a Refrigeration Technician or in a similar role, with experience in maintaining and repairing food service equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Proficiency in reading schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
- Knowledge of refrigeration systems, food service equipment, components, and principles.
- Familiarity with refrigerants and their safe handling and disposal.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy equipment and work in confined spaces.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and respond to emergency service calls as needed.
