About the role
To safely and efficiently install, operate, monitor, repair and maintain operation of all Jackson Business Office and assist Southern Faculties refrigeration, air conditioning, heating, hydronic, and humidity systems and controls utilizing self and prisoner workers to complete duties.
This position is to comply with all applicable department policies, procedures, MIOSHA standards and laws while performing required duties.
Responsibilities
- Instructs skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled prisoners with the performance of assigned tasks or duties.
- Completes work requests and scheduled preventive maintenance.
- Develops material orders and specification as well as monitors material inventories.
- Handles all duties as assigned.
- May travel which may include overnight stays.
Requirements
- Five years of experience in the refrigeration mechanic trade, including one year equivalent to a Refrigeration Mechanic E9.
- Possession of a mechanical contractor's license to carry out refrigeration mechanic work at the construction or remodeling project sites.
- Some positions may require possession of the Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- Some positions may require certification in compliance with Section 608 of the Clean Air Act of 1990, as amended.
Qualifications
- Completion of a refrigeration mechanic's vocational training program that included commercial or industrial level instruction may be substituted for two years of experience.
