Responsibilities

  • Serves as a liaison between patients, providers, insurance carriers, and external healthcare organizations.
  • Facilitates communication and continuity of care throughout the referral process.
  • Obtains necessary authorizations, verifies insurance requirements, tracks referral completion, and maintains accurate documentation within the electronic health record (EHR).

Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills including oral comprehension, oral expression, written comprehension, and written expression.
  • Ability to manage a fast-paced, chaotic work environment.
  • Computer/PC experience with software knowledge such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and email program.
  • Previous experience and/or background in insurance verification, medical terminology, HIPAA compliance, and EHR systems preferred.
  • Outstanding public relations/customer service experience and presentation.
  • A high level of personal presentation.
  • The ability to maintain accuracy with interruptions.
  • To use sound judgment and cope with potentially stressful situations.
