Responsibilities
- Serves as a liaison between patients, providers, insurance carriers, and external healthcare organizations.
- Facilitates communication and continuity of care throughout the referral process.
- Obtains necessary authorizations, verifies insurance requirements, tracks referral completion, and maintains accurate documentation within the electronic health record (EHR).
Requirements
- Excellent communication skills including oral comprehension, oral expression, written comprehension, and written expression.
- Ability to manage a fast-paced, chaotic work environment.
- Computer/PC experience with software knowledge such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and email program.
- Previous experience and/or background in insurance verification, medical terminology, HIPAA compliance, and EHR systems preferred.
- Outstanding public relations/customer service experience and presentation.
- A high level of personal presentation.
- The ability to maintain accuracy with interruptions.
- To use sound judgment and cope with potentially stressful situations.
