Job Summary

The Referral Specialist is responsible for performing all aspects of the patient referral process including coordinating and completing referrals ordered by providers, acquiring and verifying third party information for referrals, obtaining referral appointments, and tracking referrals.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum Education: Basic College Courses
  • Minimum Work Experience: 6 months Scheduling Rep experience Required
  • Licenses/Certifications: Required
  • Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
    • Knowledge of medical practice protocols related to scheduling referrals and testing
    • Knowledge of manual/ computerized scheduling systems
    • Knowledge of customer service principles and techniques
    • Knowledge of insurance and ability to obtain prior authorization
    • Skill in communicating effectively with physicians/clinicians about referrals/radiology
    • Ability to multitask effectively, dealing with phone calls, in-office patients, staff and others pleasantly with calm and clear communication in all circumstances
    • Ability to flexibly respond to changing demand and plan, organize and prioritize accordingly
    • Ability to project a pleasant and professional image
    • Ability to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others
