Referral Coordinator
The Referral and Scheduling Coordinator schedules and pre-registers patients for exams and procedures with specialists and providers outside of the primary care physician's office. This role performs basic administrative, clerical, operational, customer support, and computational tasks, typically working on routine and patterned assignments under close supervision.
About the role
You will report to the Medical Referrals Supervisor and gather and communicate all relevant information and preparation instructions to patients and referring providers. Decisions are limited to defined parameters around work expectations, quality standards, priorities, and timing. This role is patient-facing and involves managing both incoming and outgoing phone calls approximately 80% of time.
This position is part of the company's Tuberculosis (TB) screening program. If selected, you will be required to be screened for TB.
Responsibilities
- Schedule and pre-register patients for exams and procedures with external specialists and providers.
- Perform administrative, clerical, and customer support tasks.
- Communicate preparation instructions and relevant information to patients and referring providers.
- Manage incoming and outgoing phone calls.
Requirements
- 2 years of hands-on referrals healthcare experience in a clinical setting, preferably within the Medicare population.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Proficient in medical terminology.
- Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
- Excellent professional communication abilities at all organizational levels and with patients.
- Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on improving consumer experiences.
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare or Business Administration.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish or English and Creole.
- Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding.
- Medical Assistant or Professional State Certifications related to healthcare.
Schedule
Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40.
Location: Onsite in Ft Lauderdale, FL.
Pay
The pay range reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full-time employment (40 hours per week) at the time of posting. The range may vary based on geographic location and individual pay will depend on demonstrated job-related skills, knowledge, experience, education, and certifications.
$39,000 - $49,400 per year.
This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan based on company and/or individual performance.
