Referral Coordinator

We are seeking a hard-working and dedicated Referral Coordinator to prepare and process all managed care referral paperwork, schedules, and pre-register patients for exams and procedures with specialists and providers outside of the primary care physician's office.
About the role
This position is onsite at the CenterWell Senior Primary Care office in West Orange. The role is patient-facing and part of Humana’s Tuberculosis (TB) screening program; if selected, you will be required to be screened for TB.
Responsibilities
- Prepares and processes all managed care referral paperwork.
- Gathers pertinent information from physicians, nurse practitioners, and nursing staff to complete referrals.
- Contacts various offices/facilities to obtain necessary appointments for completing referrals.
- Maintains referral records and files documentation.
- Responds to patient inquiries regarding health plan referrals.
- Maintains strictest confidentiality; adheres to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations.
Requirements
- Referral experience is mandatory.
- 1-3 years of hands-on healthcare experience in a clinical setting, preferably within the Medicare population.
- Proficient with medical terminology.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Experience with Electronic Medical Records.
- Excellent professional communication abilities at all levels within the organization and with patients.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare or Business Administration (preferred).
- Knowledge of ICD 10 and CPT coding (preferred).
- Medical Assistant or Professional State Certifications related to healthcare (preferred).
- Bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred).
Schedule
- Monday to Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM.
- Scheduled weekly hours: 40.
- Local travel may be required; mileage is reimbursed.
Pay
The pay range reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full-time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The range may vary based on geographic location and individual pay will depend on demonstrated job-related skills, knowledge, experience, education, and certifications.
- Pay range: $40,000 – $52,300 per year.
- This role is eligible for a bonus incentive plan based on company and/or individual performance.
