Virtual Service Operations is searching for a Senior Consultant with strong Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) expertise to lead automation initiatives for a public-sector client engagement at Red Hat.
About the role
This person will help design, deploy, and optimize enterprise automation solutions, guide the client's team on best practices, and ensure the platform is secure, scalable, and well-integrated with existing IT systems.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, deployment, and ongoing optimization of Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform environments.
- Develop and maintain automation content (playbooks, roles, collections) that supports infrastructure management and compliance needs.
- Integrate AAP with the client's broader IT ecosystem (source control, CI/CD, ITSM, Red Hat tooling).
- Ensure the platform meets security and compliance requirements relevant to a federal environment.
- Troubleshoot issues, document architecture and processes, and mentor client staff on automation practices.
- Serve as a trusted technical advisor, communicating progress and recommendations to both technical and business stakeholders.
Requirements
- 7-9 years of experience.
- Solid hands-on experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform.
- Proven consulting or client-facing delivery experience.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently in a remote/hybrid setting.
- Must be within driving distance of Charleston, SC or willing to relocate there.
- Must be willing to work onsite.
- Must possess an active Secret clearance or above.
- U.S. citizenship status (required by government contract).
Preferred Qualifications
- Red Hat certifications (Ansible Automation, RHCE, or RHCA).
- Familiarity with security compliance frameworks (e.g., STIG/CIS).
