About the role
The Recycling Operations Facility Manager I (ROFMI) oversees operational effectiveness and efficiency, focusing on Health & Safety, Environmental compliance, quality control, inventory management, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Supports overall H&S issues within the facility.
- Ensures Environmental compliance and monitors H&S programs.
- Monitors and administers H&S and Environmental Compliance programs.
- Instructs personnel on Corrective Action Plans following incidents or accidents.
- Maintains accurate material inventories and ensures compliance with internal and SOX controls.
- Reviews maintenance procedures and record keeping for all production equipment.
- Investigates operational data for accuracy and validity.
- Affirms the effectiveness of transportation and sub-contractors.
- Oversees operations and maintenance in all departments.
- Forecasts and manages production levels with the Commercial group.
- Spearheads Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- Works with internal and customer specs for materials.
- Operates facilities within budget constraints and recommends Capital Expenditures.
- Maintains administrative oversight of staff and reviews performance.
- Interviews prospective management and/or production employees.
- Communicates problems and non-compliance issues to upper management.
- Supports the Company’s Internal Control process.
- Performs other special projects as needed or assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5-10 years previous experience in steel scrap yard operations.
- College degree preferred; courses in business/operations management helpful.
- Project management experience or specialized knowledge a plus.
- Valid driver's license and ability to drive an automobile.
- Knowledge of operations, leadership, analytical, organizational skills, good communication, and mathematical abilities.
- Intermediate computer competency.
- Ability to apply logical thinking to practical problems and deal with many variables.
Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age or older for U.S. applicants and 16 years of age or older for Canada applicants.
- Participation in e-verify for U.S. new hires.
- Completion of a post-offer drug screen and background check.
- Review and sign an Arbitration Agreement.
