About the role
The Denver Civil Service Commission ensures fair, transparent, and merit-based hiring and promotional processes for the Denver Police and Fire Departments. The Commission oversees examination development, administration, and appeals; manages eligibility registers; and ensures that all hiring and selection activities comply with Civil Service Rules and applicable laws. The Commission supports a professional and well-qualified public safety workforce by upholding the integrity of Denver’s merit system. What We Offer
- An annual salary range of $101,050 to $117,471

- This is an at-will role with on-site work three days per week at the Wellington E. Webb Municipal Building (201 W. Colfax Ave., Denver, CO 80202), with Tuesday and Wednesday designated as mandatory on-site days and one additional on-site day of your choice
- The regular schedule is a 40-hour workweek, Monday through Friday, with core business hours from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
What You’ll Do
- Serve as the primary supervisor for the pre-employment background investigation team, providing daily direction, guidance, and support throughout the background screening process
- Lead efforts to improve the accuracy, consistency, and quality of investigative work and contribute to continuous improvement across other hiring process steps to ensure alignment with Civil Service standards
- Support financial operations by providing backup coverage for expenditure monitoring, invoice review, and preparation of budget materials
- Act as a recruitment liaison, partnering with cross-functional teams and external organizations to coordinate job fairs, outreach events, and other hiring initiatives
